Someone just called the lab to report a large, black dead bird, which he
claimed was a bird of prey, on Turkey Hill Rd. If anyone's up that way,
please check it out.

A pair of green herons landed in trees between the house and the barn. By the
time I grabbed my camera & got my sister in law off the phone, they were gone.
First sighting this year; they've have hung in the same trees in past years.
Interesting yard birds!

We have a sopping wet male who continues to guard our feeder. He was missing
for about a month but is back now. I guess he found something better to eat for
a while... One of his favorite perches is the end of a zip tie that was placed
on a fence long ago.

I saw my first hummingbird yesterday at an Amish greenhouse in SummerHill; the
Amish ladies said the birds have been in the greenhouses for a couple of weeks.
