The error messages in your log make it appear that the PCI card is broken.  
Does the card work if you install it in a different computer?

Hi,
I´m having trouble getting this card working with a USB harddisk (its a Maxtor 
L200P0 inside a Canyon Hard Disk Drive Case) which works well on another linux 
box i have.

btw, i have run lilo with "noapic" in order to get SMP working
