Thank you Pavel for your solution. Yes, i had a set of locally installed old lyx fonts in ~/.local/share/fonts. Now I replaced them with new Lyx fonts in 2.5.1 source code. Now oint appears in all the versions. Oint in font was 'fixed' for newer lyx releases, so this sounds little bit like your system uses 2.3.8 font for all releases and obviously working only 2.3.
