Hi Hal,

now there is an alternate package available for download at lyx.org.

The LyX-2.5.0+qt5 package was build for elder macOS (for 10.13) - this should 
work for you.

Alternatively, install Open Core Legacy Patcher
 on your machine so that you
can run a more recent version of MacOS. Versions through Sequoia are
currently supported. Just be sure you keep abreast of the latest
developments and issues with Mr Macintosh on YouTube.
