Document compiles but still no page numbers (scrartcl).

Jürgen,
I modified the MWE and it won't compile. Page style is set in the settings
page layout as 'Default' and there's no page style in the preamble.
The scrartcl section environments are 'Section'; I don't see anything
different in the manual.
I'm now totally confused.

Re: Using KOMA-Script Article class for a non-technical white paper
I changed the document class to KOMA-Script article and set page style to
'Fancy' but now the document won't complile. This is the preamble settings:
\date{}
\usepackage{mathpazo,amssymb}
\usepackage{graphicx,relsize}
\usepackage{scrlayer-scrpage}
\usepackage{xcolor,colortbl}
\usepackage{chngcntr,xurl}
\counterwithout{figure}{section}
\definecolor{lightgray}{gray}{0.8}
\pagestyle{scrheadings}
The error log is attached.
What have I missed?
