Nick Bonomo sent word of an adult PARASITIC JAEGER at the Orient Point ferry
dock at 1 pm today. He's confident it is not a Pomarine, the more likely
species during the winter months. I am not aware of any records of this
species before April but will need to check on that.

The breeding plumage CATTLE EGRET is still on the south side of Rt 27
between Amagansett and Montauk (Suffolk Co). Just by a brown sign

Rubinstein found a
good number of Wood Thrush in typical nesting habitat. Along the same lines,
Hugh noted Great-crested Flycatchers at his house in Sag Habor first thing

The HERMIT WARBLER is still present at Sunken Meadow SP (Suffolk). Just west of
traffic circle along fence line between two beach access pts. It's feeding on
the grass or foraging in shrubs along fence. Good luck if you go and please
keep posting reports, positive or negative.

The rocky seabed along the north NJ shore can attract reasonable numbers of

altitude worth speaking of. Evidently migration occurs
almost exclusively at night. After watching a little longer I noticed two
adult Great Black-backed Gulls making lunges at the Ruddy Ducks, and assume
this attempt at predation was the cause of their unfamiliar aerial antics.

I am happy to report that the 5 Black-bellied Whisting-Ducks are still present.
Flew in from NJ side at 7:40 AM and landed in empoundment on N side of Oil City
Road, on right hand side of northbound trail/road. Currently hidden in
vegetation.
