Hi Robert,
so you don't have a general purpose, or media library group of plug ins?

On two machines here, there are six groups of plug ins.
I don't know how to help in this case.

Hope you get things sorted out.

Re: Winamp question

2017-07-30 Thread Chris Skarstad

Hi

Under dsp/effect, there should be a section called media library. I
would hesitate to delete or remove any of these plugins unless you're
absolutely sure you want to get rid of them. The absolutely safest
thing to do is to hit alt plus l and hide the media library window from
appearing. If you really want to get rid of the plugins though, the
safest one looks like it might be one called Nullsoft library, and
another one called Online services. But like I say i haven't removed
these, so approach with caution. I have no idea if winamp requires
these plugins to function. That's why I've just hidden the media
library window. Better to be safe than sorry.

A winamp question

2012-06-29 Thread Donald L. Roberts
Although I prefer to use Window-eyes with its Winamp scripts, I would
also greatly appreciate responses from Jaws users.

I am using Winamp version 5.61, I believe. What I am attempting to
determine is whether there is some way to copy all of the track info
shown for a given track. I just downloaded a classical album entitled
something like 99 violin masterpieces, and the track info supplied
provides title, artist, album info. I can see this with the Window-eyes
scripts but want a way to copy it and subsequently braille it. But it
would be really tedious to manually copy each track line by line.

So, thanks in advance for suggestions as to whether this can be done;
and, if so, just how to do it.

I'm running Winamp 5.572, and I do see AVI as a supported file type. It's
listed in the Winamp preferences in the file types list. When I click on
 an
AVI file in Windows Explorer, Winamp is the media player that comes up
and
plays it. Did you install the lite or standard version of Winamp? I don't
know if that makes a difference or not. Did you make sure that all of the
file type support was installed when you installed Winamp?

I'm also pretty sure that WMP supports fast forwarding and rewinding
 through
the menus, hot keys or using the slide bar on the interface. I don't
typically use WMP though, so I can't be sure. Does fast forwarding and
rewinding in WMP work for you on other file types? My biggest gripe with
 WMP
is that I can't figure out how to control the amount you jump in a file.
I
think it's based on a percent of the overall length of the file.

2011-01-26 Thread David Truong
Hi Mate,

You probably unregistered the wa4jfw.dll file which is used by Jaws to talk
to Winamp directly. Using the windows run command try the following:
Regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wa4jfw.dll
All being well, the dll file should be registered properly and your jaws
volume functions etc should come back.

Re: Winamp Question

2011-01-26 Thread Howard T

This is just my experience and thoughts:
In the past, I have found the winamp.bm file (this is--or was--the file
containing the bookmarks) and copied it to another computer via a floppy
disk, memory stick, or my LAN. now-a-days, with microsoft screwing with us,
it can be difficult to find winamp.bm; and even harder to know where to put
it on the next computer.

Good luck,

Hi Dave!

If you don't a way in the Winamp menus try to make a search for Winamp.bm
and Winamp.bm8. Make a copy and place them in the same folder on the other
computer. On my PC I found the files in C:\users\My
name\Appdata\roaming\Winamp. If you can't find the files set Windows to show
hidden files.

Winamp question again

2010-07-02 Thread Dave McElroy WA6BEF
I have this one file I downloaded from a torrent, (happens to be the
original Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956 and it came down as an AVI
file.

Now my HP laptop with some older version of Winamp on it plays this file
fine, but my desktop, now with Winamp 5.58 does not and has not. I've been
able to play it in my old WMP ver. 9, but even there I can't fast forward or
rewind.

I tried k-lite but no joy of course I may not be configuring it correctly.
So I went to google where I found a vdamp plug in. Put that in and the
file showed as playing but still no sound.

Now I've checked and AVI is checked. Winamp opens, its just that it stops
dead.

Frankly, since it plays on the laptop I'm afraid to upgrade it there though
I get hounded.

Thanks for any thoughts.

WMP may be muted, I think f8 mutes and unmutes but it might be f7 or f9. I
have another version. Keep tabbing till you hear the mute and volume
controls. They are independent of the Windows mixer.

Also check tools, options, devices tab, speakers, properties,; to set output
if you have more than one sound card.

I agree, it's strange that rewind is disabled in WMP and we have to use a
seek bar that has no direct hot keys or even a quick way to bring the slider
to focus.

I'm also pretty sure that WMP supports fast forwarding and rewinding

I don't typically use WMP though, so I can't be sure. Does fast
forwarding and rewinding in WMP work for you on other file types? My
biggest gripe with WMP is that I can't figure out how to control the
amount you jump in a file. I think it's based on a percent of the

Do you activate the rip or burn menus before activating the burn or rip

Hello Rob and list:  If memory serves me, in WMP 11, F7 mutes and unmutes;
F8 and F9 raises and lowers volume; right off the top of my head, don't
remember which one raises volume and which one lowers it! It seems like it
used to be that you had better navigation of files in earlier versions of
WMP; this seems to have been taken away now!

WMP may be muted, I think f8 mutes and unmutes but it might be f7 or f9.
I have another version. Keep tabbing till you hear the mute and volume
controls. They are independent of the Windows mixer.

Also check tools, options, devices tab, speakers, properties,; to set
output if you have more than one sound card.

I agree, it's strange that rewind is disabled in WMP and we have to use a
seek bar that has no direct hot keys or even a quick way to bring the
slider to focus.

It's listed in the Winamp preferences in the file types list. When I
click on an AVI file in Windows Explorer, Winamp is the media player
that comes up and plays it. Did you install the lite or standard
version of Winamp? I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Did
you make sure that all of the file type support was installed when you
installed Winamp?

I'm also pretty sure that WMP supports fast forwarding and rewinding
through the menus, hot keys or using the slide bar on the interface. I
don't typically use WMP though, so I can't be sure. Does fast
forwarding and rewinding in WMP work for you on other file types? My
biggest gripe with WMP is that I can't figure out how to control the
amount you jump in a file. I think it's based on a percent of the
overall length of the file.

But when I try to rip a CD, I here WMP say, Windows Media player, close

But when I click on details, I get a message that says, the settings in

I had this problem with WMP 10, now I'm having the same problem with WMP 11.
If something got change with my CDR drive, how do I fix it?
It also gives me the same message when I try to burn CD's too as well.
Again, how do I fix it?

2010-05-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm running Winamp 5.572, and I do see AVI as a supported file type. It's
listed in the Winamp preferences in the file types list. When I click on an
AVI file in Windows Explorer, Winamp is the media player that comes up and
plays it. Did you install the lite or standard version of Winamp? I don't
know if that makes a difference or not. Did you make sure that all of the
file type support was installed when you installed Winamp?

I'm also pretty sure that WMP supports fast forwarding and rewinding through
the menus, hot keys or using the slide bar on the interface. I don't
typically use WMP though, so I can't be sure. Does fast forwarding and
rewinding in WMP work for you on other file types? My biggest gripe with WMP
is that I can't figure out how to control the amount you jump in a file. I
think it's based on a percent of the overall length of the file.

Well the simple fact is that AVI does not ppear as a supported file type in
5.72 whereas it does in 5.32. In fact, there are only 61 file types with
which to associate as opposed to 67 on the earlier one. So it would appear
that I'm hosed.

I wouldn't even mind except that I can't control Windows Media player, I.E.
it won't fast forward or rewind.

High Chris,
That's one reason why I don't use WMP.
Winamp has that media player beat in that aspect and respect.
I use to use WMP for ripping and burning CD's.
But some how, something in WMP got broken because it won't rip or burn CD's
anymore.
I use Winamp for the burning of CD's, but I'd like to know where the CD
ripper is in Winamp.

If you can tell me that, you'll be a big help to me!
Oh, and thinks in advance too!
My best regards.

WMP11 no sound was: Winamp question

2010-05-20 Thread Robert Logue
WMP may be muted, I think f8 mutes and unmutes but it might be f7 or f9. I
have another version. Keep tabbing till you hear the mute and volume
controls. They are independent of the Windows mixer.

Also check tools, options, devices tab, speakers, properties,; to set output
if you have more than one sound card.

I agree, it's strange that rewind is disabled in WMP and we have to use a
seek bar that has no direct hot keys or even a quick way to bring the slider
to focus.

start at the top of the tree with the home key.

arrow down to file types.

tab through the options and select the all button

Now go back to the tree view, and arrow down to video.

Tab through these options and make selections as appropriate.

See if that helps.

High Vicky,
I never could get that key combo to work for me in any version of Winamp.
What I had to do to bookmark a radio/TV station, is play the stream.
While it's playing, I would pull up the bookmark menu.
Then I would scroll down to where it says, add currant bookmark and press
inter on it.
And the bookmark is added!
Hope this helps.
My best regards.

I asked this question to the Winamp list the other day and there didn't
seem
to be a solution, so I thought I'd try here.
I'm using the latest version of Winamp with Vista. I'm having two
 problems.

 1. When I add a bookmark using the shortcut key Alt I, it says the
 bookmark
 is
added, but no bookmark is ever added.

 2. I have placed my winamp.bm file into my winamp folder and no bookmarks
 show
up. On my netbook with XP the BM file was added fine.

Re: Bookmarks in Winamp question

2010-03-04 Thread Sunshine
Ok, you need to do alt control b as in book mark
the book mark file will go in your user folder where your user folder if
it has your name on it then ap data and then winamp.
this is cause the newest versions of winamp moved the book mark file to this
location in xp it is the same owner {your name if appical} apiclation data,
winamp
also alt control b is the new winamp short cut key to ad a book marked
station.

I installed this very same version of Winamp just a couple of weeks ago.
Before going any further, did you follow the JFW installation instructions
from within the jaws help files under the topic of Winamp? I'm thinking you
did not associate any files to be played with Winamp. The important step is
to use right arrow to expand the list of file extensions to be played by
Winamp. Also try the obvious such as closing winamp then going to an MP3
file and pressing enter. Write back and we'll go from here.

If Winamp is opening, it's clearly not a file associations issue,
otherwise Winamp would not open. My guess is that your sound has been
muted at some point. If you're using JAWS, try alt+control+slash to set
your volume to 100%. I'm not sure what the equivalent command is with
other screen readers' scripts.

To center sound, press ALT+CTRL+K,
To pan 50% right, press ALT+CTRL+L,
To pan 100% right, press ALT+CTRL+SEMI COLON . I think you may want to

That was all I could find!

Re: winamp question

2009-08-15 Thread Roger Stewart
Well, most of what you want are just Winamp's own hotkeys and will work
whether you use Jaws or anything or no screen reader at all. Up and
Down arrows control voluneand left and right arrow keys control pan. If
Jaws is running the correct script everything should speak and there are
a few extra keys that will set the paning to different values. Open the
Jaws main window, open file menue and go down to Manage Program
Settings. In there you should see Winamp if you've made any change at
all to it. Make sure the checkbox for Winamp is checked and it should
run those settings when Winamp is in focus. And Winamp does need to
have focus for any of the Jaws settings to work. You can run Winamp in
the background while doing other work, but you can't control it unless
it has focus. That could be the problem. Good luck!

hey roger,
thanks for answering, but the problem is, I've removed some jaws related
stuff in the registry to solve some other problems.

but well i'll try to check this thing in jaws.
and you have a serious problem when you want to pan exactly to center with
only the arrow keys.

Well, most of what you want are just Winamp's own hotkeys and will work
whether you use Jaws or anything or no screen reader at all. Up and Down
arrows control voluneand left and right arrow keys control pan. If Jaws
is running the correct script everything should speak and there are a few
extra keys that will set the paning to different values. Open the Jaws
main window, open file menue and go down to Manage Program Settings. In
there you should see Winamp if you've made any change at all to it. Make
sure the checkbox for Winamp is checked and it should run those settings
when Winamp is in focus. And Winamp does need to have focus for any of
the Jaws settings to work. You can run Winamp in the background while
doing other work, but you can't control it unless it has focus. That
could be the problem. Good luck!

2009-08-15 Thread Mac Norins
Brian,

Here is what I copied from the Insert key W hot key list, in Win Amp 5.56:
To pan 50% left, press ALT+CTRL+J,
To center sound, press ALT+CTRL+K,
To pan 50% right, press ALT+CTRL+L,
To pan 100% right, press ALT+CTRL+SEMI COLON . I think you may want to have a
file running, to be able to hear the desired effect!

That was all I could find!

Make sure you're in the right Winamp window when you press the space
bar. I'm not sure what it's called, but it works for me in the window
which has the name of the track in the title bar. You can use the
control-tab key sequence to cycle through your winamp windows. You may
also have problems if you have the notice about a new update popping up.

Actually I've found that this space bar pausing only works when you have
Jaws loaded. If you unload Jaws, only the C key pauses, and the space
bar

does nothing.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Matthew,
Just right-click the folder and choose play in Winamp from the context menu, or
press shift+L in Winamp itself.

Hit control alt G and it will generate a playlist chart for the selected
tracks that Winamp is playing. It's not always accurate though, for some
reason.
Thanks a lot.

 Hi Stewart,
Right-click in JAWS is number-pad star, then arrow up to properties,

and find the URL field with the arrow keys once you've pressed enter

on the properties menu item. Then go to the start of the URL by
pressing the home key, then press shift+end to select it. Press
control+C to copy it to the clipboard, then go int an email or
document and paste it by pressing
 control+V

file
conversion, how to add, pauses and change voices within a file, use the
pronunciation editor to change the way words are spoken, and more.

After listening to this tutorial, it is guaranteed you will be able to
obtain the software, and use it to convert text-based material into an
audio
format which should be pleasing to listen to on a portable player.

Re: another winamp question

2008-11-12 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I have a couple of Winamp questions of my own.

First, what is the easiest way of constructing a playlist
when all files to be played are in the same folder?

Second, what is the procedure for calculating the total
playing time for all songs in a playlist?

And one more for the road. Is there some means of
lengthening the gap between songs in a playlist. I realize
that I am a definite minority here; but, my preference is
for two and a half seconds of elapsed time between the
conclusion of one song and the beginning of the next.

Thanks for ideas.

Re: another winamp question

2008-11-12 Thread Matthew Bullis
Well I don't know about a playlist, but if you just hit control A within a
folder, it will play the whole thing. Make sure not to select any documents
or other files besides mp3s, because that will lock up the program. If you
hit alt E when using Jaws within Winamp, the playlist editor will open up.
Hit control alt G and it will generate a playlist chart for the selected
tracks that Winamp is playing. It's not always accurate though, for some
reason.
Thanks a lot.

Another Winamp question

2008-08-04 Thread Quinten Pendle
Greetings all

Each time I try to play an audio cd with Winamp, it wants to retrieve cd
information first, and I have all my days to try and convince winamp to quit
the cd info thing, and jus play the darn track.
This is getting wrist slittingly annoying.
Any suggestions as to how I might be able to get Winamp to NOT do this each
time?

Thanks for any help.

 Hi Kathy,

This can be controlled in the Winamp output plugin which you can access
via preferences. In the standard plugin, there is a
checkbox in the Other tab to remove silence from the start and end of
tracks. Alternatively, you can get the SQR Soft crossfade
plugin which you can configure to have the next track start as the
previous track is fading out, similar to how it is done on most
 radio stations.

Subject: A quick winamp question

tell it to not put any pauses between files while they are playing? Thanks
much!

Kathy
