A golden orb weaver is normally thought of as Nephila clavipes, but the spider picture (a ventral view) that Ann posted looks more like a species of Argiope, probably A. trifasciata. It is known as the banded Argiope. There would be a brush on the distal tibiae of legs I, II, IV in Nephila
