, on Windows, when you try and close iTunes after using
iTunesUpdate, a dialog pops up that warns you that someone is accessing
iTunes using scripting and gives you 30 seconds to cancel the shutdown,
which delays my PC shutting down.

unfortunately that seems to be exactly the same output as you get when
it works. Maybe you could try disabling direct streaming as this may
give more useful debug output? - however I don't really know how you do
this!

Hi Dan,
the line endings don't matter on XP. You need to start SlimServer with
the --d_startup and --d_plugins flags. There should be some errors that
indicate why SlimScrobbler is not loading.

I'm going to guess that you've installed the module as yourself,
(/Users/bendabloss/.cpan/Metadata) but SlimServer is looking for
modules installed system wide (/Library/Perl).
Did you do this before running any cpan commands?

No, actually Firefox had cached my password, showing it in the settings
screen but it wasn't actually saved in the prefs file!
Still, showed up that I don't show any warnings if there's no login
set.
Other than that seems to work fine.

With the 'automatically start at login' option, SlimServer starts
automatically when a user is logged into the XP box.
You would need someone logged in for iTunes to run anyway so I can't
imagine it being a problem.

OK, I agree that the tag submission no longer works. The submission is
accepted by LastFM, but no response is returned.
It seems that the official player (now?) uses a different method to tag
files.
I should be able to move to the new method in a couple of days...

That's annoying.
The failure when setting the date is somewhat expected, but when
setting the rating all I did was remove the * 20!
Attached is a small change to enable printing of the Applescript that's
being executed - hopefully this will highlight the problem.

(It could be the comma in the track name is causing a problem.)

That's strange. If the play counts are getting updated it's most likely
a bug in the plugin!
How are you rating the tracks?
After you've rated a track can you see the correct rating in
SlimServer - e.g. in the iTunesUpdate web page?

Hi Mike,
I agree this looks very cool.
It loads faster than even the default skin!
However, all my playlists are empty when viewed in slimfx (including
the player's 'now playing' list) but fine in normal skins!

I can imagine that could cause a problem. Certainly you can't delete
stations with a '+' for some reason!
Do you know what the station was that had a plus in it? I've tried
making some up but they get ignored by LastFM.

Have you entered the login for LastFM radio in the 'Internet Radio'
section of SlimServer settings? (This is a different place from the
SlimScrobbler settings)
You need to either re-enter your login there, or check the 'Use

It's a problem with the plugin and/or LastFM.
I've never really got to the bottom of it, I don't know if it comes
from LastFM incorrectly encoded or if the plugin does something wrong
with it. Although 'extended' characters show up OK in the web
interface they don't on the players.

You could try putting it back again and seeing what happens.
Any resulting messages in the log (turn d_plugins debugging on
beforehand) would be useful.

If it's working, it should scrobble everything you listen to (except
internet radio) to LastFM, regardless of how the music is selected.

Wierd isn't it? It's been doing this since 'direct streaming' was
introduced, some time ago. The Squeezebox itself is playing the stream,
so SlimServer is no longer required.
You might be able to stop the playback by holding pause, but I'm not
certain...

The original poster's problem is not the same.
Simong, you need to change the setting in SlimServer for multi-disc
sets. You can see that SlimServer is appending Disc 2 of 2 to the
name and that won't be found in iTunes.

picks up rating changes made in the TrackStat interface.
It doesn't directly use the last played/count data from TrackStat
because it takes care of these itself, and also considers iTunes to be
the master copy of these statistics.

Ok I re-read your first email and I see you don't really use iTunes
apart from for syncing to an iPod.
