haven't seen flash
open. This usually happens right after resuming from suspend, though I

transparancy. I can't use PulseAudio for it. I only want PulseAudio to be
a sound proxy and redirects all trafic to ESD.
The ESPEAKER enviroment variable isset as the following
ESPEAKER=127.0.0.1:16001. The Esound cookie files are, in my case,
located in the home folder (/home/user/.esd_auth).
I've
configured alsa or pulse
to use bare hardware.

at the same time. Once I installed pulseaudio, at next login the
pulseaudio daemon started running, and I no longer had sound in xmame. So

with --log-level hides the problem, therefore its
most likely a special situation with resources.
I have rebuilt the package libraries and binaries without the -O2
optimization to find the debug symbols of where the crash occurs. Its
more difficult to reproduce with a debug pulseaudio binary

down the right channel and work out where the switching happens.

You have been using the wrong service name. The tcpwrap service names are:
pulseaudio-native
for mythtv), stereo audio
bedroom, and mono output asterisk incoming voicemail, using asound.conf),
all from my server with long cables. Pulseaudio is just the right place to
relieve users of the burden to dig through asound.conf configuration,
don't you think?

While incidentally discussing pulseaudio with someone (Amaranth) on IRC on
#compiz-fusion-dev he mentioned the killing effect on battery life
to the module-alsa-sink/-source modules (Which
means you have to load them manually instead of using module-hal-detect or
module-detect). That increases latency though, so it might not be a good
thing if you are using pulseaudio in combination with realtime audio
applications (like voip for example
modems. I was a bit confused when I first installed Pulseaudio because I
didn't realise audio was defaulting to the ALSA modem device, so hopefully
this will help that.
