Incubator PMC/Board report for Dec 2013 ([ppmc])

2013-12-04 Thread Marvin

Dear podling,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache Incubator
PMC.
It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to prepare your quarterly
board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 18 December 2013, 10:30:30:00 PST. The
report
for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC report. The Incubator
PMC
requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks before the board meeting, to allow
sufficient time for review and submission (Wed, Dec 4th).

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the incubator PMC, and
subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the very latest you
should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board meeting.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

If the project can go further I would "vote" in favor.
Back to the original question What we gonna do with report?
If we will be in silent, they can decide to close the project.

Oleg

Few people had shown some interest in contributing to the project. I think
S4 has good potential if it integrates with Yarn+Helix and one can use HDFS
for checkpointing.

One of the main problems with integrating with Helix is keeping the
backward compatibility( i.e ability to migrate existing applications). If
we are willing to compromise, it makes it much easier to get a release out
with these features. We can call it S4 v2.0.

Thoughts?
