You probably do not have a proper Urdu font installed, only one with
partial coverage of Urdu. Which is why you get some characters, but
others are garbage.

Hi,

Follow the  steps


There are variants of the Arabic keyboard.

On Gnome, go to System>Administration>Keyboard (you will need to give the
root password)

and check which Arabic keyboard is selected.

De-select it and make it default.

in terminal type sudo apt-get update

sudo reboot

go to System>Administrator>Keyboard and check the Arabic keyboard.

See how it goes???
