Seeing -gnutls in there prompted me to go and find out
years now. When people talks about
GNOME OS, it implicitly includes the Linux kernel, sytemd/udev (including
journald, hostnamed, logind, etc.), dbus, Avahi, PulseAudio, and all the
GNOME stack from glib up to GNOME Shell.
Vertical tight integration from kernel to end user apps.

not be able to get a dhcp address from the server.
Avahi also _sortof_ works. If I add the wifi
card to the deny-interfaces list on avahi-daemon.conf and try to ping the
AP using the avahi
Hi,
I am "dicovering" (what a great word :) the IP address of my Raspberry
Pi now via ahavi/nss-mdns.
When pinging my PC on my Raspberry Pi I get the IPv4-address (good!) -
when pinging my Raspberry I only get the IPv6-address(wierd-looking) . The

are identical.

like dnsmasq, you
can also take a look at the whole Zeroconf/MDNS/Avahi/Bonjour stack.
I'm not really sure if you can configure common devices and Linux PCs to
use the DNS server for internet addresses and MDNS for local ones. In
theory, it should be possible since you can distinguish them (local
