have not tested it, as DVDStyler needs a lot of deps, that are not
installed here.

Does anyone know of an app that will create a DVD image that can be
burned to a DVD for playback on a regular home DVD player? I was
using dvdstyler but it depends on xine-ui which doesn't compile
against xine-lib-1.2 which I need.

installed, but media-
video/dvdstyler-1.7.2_beta4 wants to have ffmpeg with the encode USE flag,
which your installed version doesn't seem to have, but ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20090201
does.

Good eye Dirk, I think that's it. Thank you.

Yes. You've got ffmpeg-2009 installed, but media-

to join your mpg's together, but trial
and error will prove that right or wrong!
For dvdauthor the mpg's doesn`t need to be joined as you can see in my
previous example!
If you prefer gui tools you can try media-video/qdvdauthor,
media-video/dvdstyler or media-video/tovid.

to read it, you need to retain the layer break. You read it out with cdrecord
and you set it with cdrecord driveropts=layerbreak=#
Jörg
dvdstyler is good for turning an mp4 (for example) into a DVD that can
be read by a standalone player. Dual layer is handled transparently.

Explanation:
New USE are correctly set, but --newuse wasn't requested, so an
installed package with incorrect USE happened to get pulled into the
dependency
this, but I think you'll prolly want to look
at media-video/dvdauthor and maybe media-video/dvdstyler.
Stroller.

have been a separate email! I've just been looking
at dvd authoring too. Try out dvdstyler - http://www.dvdstyler.de/ - it
looks pretty good, at least in concept. I haven't tried it yet.
I got the idea from a Linux World Expo presentation here:
http://www.greenfly.org/talks/multimedia/dvd.html
for
doing this, kind of Ulead DVD Workshop, this is, you can add video
files, create menus in a graphical editor, export and burn a project
in different formats (VCD/SVCD/DVD), include the source folder with
the original images in the resulting CD/DVD...
dvdstyler is a good gui front end
a project
in different formats (VCD/SVCD/DVD), include the source folder with
the original images in the resulting CD/DVD...
dvdstyler is a good gui front end for this.
From what I've found I have the feeling that some of the things may be
done, but others, specially graphical CD/DVD authoring
!
DVDStyler uses the same technique and it crashed when I try to prepare a
menu.
I used dvd-slideshow, that use different programs but it doesn't accept
widescreen resolution (it has no option to set the aspect ratio).
How can I find the problem?
Thanks a lot,
Luigi

the DVD. The linux approach will require more mix and
match, especially putting together DVD menus and stuff which will
require a tool like dvdstyler.I have successfully used dvdstyler to make
dvd's of family movies, recorded TV etc complete with menus.
One thing to note too is that there is a bit
