The command svcadm, with enable or disable, will start or stop the service from the command line, as well as take it in and out of the boot sequence. If enabled its essentially self healing. Any failure among the dependencies will cascade through and restart James. It was a bit of a learning curve for a UNIX neophyte like me but I can appreciate the advantage: I can now forget about it and leave it doing its thing in the background. Thanks again for the script.
