Tune a radio or TV into the hissing and crackling, the white
noise. Then say we are looking for signals in that. You could then
tune the device into a station and say this is an example of a signal.
Then tell her that Seti does the same thing but with far weaker signals
than a human would ever notice, the kind from an intelligence in space. If
you do convert a WU to sound, all you will get is white noise
anyway.

I don't
think that's possible with SETI@home. There might be seperate programs
or recordings that do that, though.
