A long while ago, I ran SETI@home on a P100, and while it took a long while
to do a work unit (around four days I think), it worked. I haven't run
SETI@home in a while (running the United Devices cancer research client on
all my machines now), but I'm sure a P166 would run it fine, if slowly, as
long as you don't mind paying for the electricity. If you go with Windows,
I'd suggest using Windows 95 on it, since those newer versions of Windows
just consume more RAM, and with only 64MB you don't have a lot to work with.
I have no Linux experience so I can't guess how it'd perform.
By the way, what chipset and RAM does it have, and how much L2 cache? You
can get 512k cache modules for just a few bucks these days, and if it has
less than 512 that'd give you a bit of a performance boost.

Lo hi all. This list has been quiet awhile so I thought I'd ask about something :-)
a p166 w/ 64 megs of ram and a 5 gb HD. Should I even try running Seti on it?
I know, Im a glutton for punishment :-).
OS Choices. Windows 95, Windows 98SE, Win 2000 Pro ( Im real doubtful on that one) or Redhat Linux 7.2
Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated :-)
