Check the wastegate flapper. Make sure the actuator arm is still attached, and make sure the flapper opens/closes fine. You can check by applying pressure to the vacuum port of the WGA and see if the arm moves. Later, Cindy
That's a good idea. I've had a wastegate arm come off a T1 for me and it vented everything. I was not able to get any real boost. Another thing to check is the turbo plumbing (from the turbo to the intercooler, if you have it, to the throttle body). Make sure that all these lines are on and that all the hose clamps are tight. If one of these is loose or off, boost will vent to the atmosphere and give you the same symptoms as a disconnected actuator rod. You may or may not be noticing a woosh if this is the case.
You said that it feels like it shuts down for a split second. Do you mean it jerks as if you lost spark or hit the overboost cutoff? If it is one of the problems that Cindy or I mentioned, you would not get a jerk, just no power.
