New! Upper Elementary Reading Strategy Module Posted

Dear IRIS Family,

The IRIS Center is proud to announce the latest addition to our growing
catalogue of online interactive modules: CSR: A Reading Comprehension Strategy,
a revision and detailed expansion of the CSR section of The Reading Blues:
Strategies to Help Upper-Elementary Students Move from Struggle to Success.

Mr. Dupree, a sixth-grade science teacher at Washington Middle School, is
growing concerned about his students' performance. After consulting with his
colleagues and conducting some independent research, Mr. Dupree concludes that
many of his students are having trouble understanding the science textbook.
Because reading comprehension skills are not routinely taught beyond the third
grade, he decides to teach reading comprehension strategies to his students. We
invite you to join Mr. Dupree as he learns about Collaborative Strategic
Reading (CSR), an approach that students with varying reading abilities can
apply to improve comprehension while reading expository text in small,
cooperative learning groups. To view CSR: A Reading Comprehension Strategy,
