 Ha ha ha. A typical shallow academic look at Open Source is what this
 is all about. Comes from having people working in a religious field like
 Open Source, and not appreciating the philosophy at the same time.

 This policy is probably aimed at what they perceive as "serious"
 developers for Simputer, i.e. their expectations are more towards
 official development on Simputer related h/w and apps.

 When will they learn that unlike software, it is very difficult to
 hold IP in hardware as opensource, and the /only/ protection that
 they have against more market-savvy would-be usurpers of Simputer, is
 that they encourage more part-time, individuals like  you,me  and others
 to develop on it ...
