One way is to use Solaris jumpstart. Take a look at the following documentation:
tutorial: http://www.deer-run.com/~hal/jumpstart/Jumpstart.pdf manual: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/821-0439?l=en ----------------------------- Shen Yang Be Happy Be Nice From: SysAdmin Alpha Mike <list.sunsola...@gmail.com> To: Solaris-Users mailing list <solaris-users@filibeto.org> Date: 07/28/2010 11:03 PM Subject: [Solaris-Users] How to install latest Solaris 10 OS on a SPARC box without a DVD ROM? Sent by: solaris-users-boun...@filibeto.org Hello mates, I've a SUN Netra (Sparc) at home, I cannot afford to buy a SUN branded dvd rom and I wonder how can I install the Solaris 10 OS without one. I've my desktop machine with Linux and my idea is to enable a tftp, a dhcp server and NFS share my linux worstation's dvdrw with the latest Solaris 10 SPARC dvd inside and install the OS from there by making the SPARC box to boot from the net. Or loopback mount the Solaris 10 ISO on a directory and share that directory. Do you think that it would be possible? Ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. thanks Andres- _______________________________________________ Solaris-Users mailing list Solaris-Users@filibeto.org http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/solaris-users This e-mail message, including attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential or proprietary information.
