Bonita I had the same problem with the toolkit...I think that I tried to teach everything...I think the toolkit gives you lots of direction to take in terms of student learning, but I am going to try to spread them out over a few lessons rather than one long lesson. The first time I did the first lesson in monitoring comprehension it took me 75 minutes! Yikes! The kids were really on task and loved the lesson but you can't do that every day or the kids don't get as much opportunity to actually READ! The one thing that was hard for us was honing the lessons down. We could not seem to find a way to present them as minilessons. No matter how many shortcuts we took, the lessons seemed to go on at least 45 minutes to an hour. So STW is goign to help me to hone those toolkit lessons, I think. I want to use the toolkit again, but make the lessons more to the point. I do believe the problem was more me and less the Toolkit. Practice makes perfect. :)Bonita ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour _______________________________________________ Stw2chat mailing list Stw2chat@literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/stw2chat_literacyworkshop.org.
