I'm a little behind in my reading, but read the first section yesterday. Strike: STW 2page 34 "introduce all the comprehension sttategies described in this book within a reasonably short time period." Yet , MOT 2 suggests to spend some intense time on each strategy. In my experience, in the primary grades, the strategies need to be introduced separately so students can really internalize the language, practice in a variety of genres, and articulate how the strategies help them understand text. IF, and this is a big IF, buildings ALL explicitly teach the strategies, it seems that by 4th grade teachers could introduce them, and get a sense of which strategies need further explicit instruction. Unfortunately, not all teaches in a building explicitly teach the strategies. The toolkit seems to emphasize a MOT 2 approach, because the lessons are LONG, and the whole unit appears to take 3- weeks. Do you teach strategies ala MOT or what is suggested on page 34? Carol
