Sponsored by TWIST - Tablet Weavers International Studies & Techniques
Goat hair, cotton, linen, tencel, rayon, wool.
Canada, England, The Netherlands, Iran, Denmark, Germany, U.S.A., France.
Egyptian diagonals, letters, pebble weave, threaded-in patterns, in-lay,
brocade, soumak, fringe, double-face, 3/1 twill, transposed cards, plain
weave, and the deciphering of a hand-me-down, partially-woven band on
triangular cards.
Inspiration and delight. I started slowly, looking at each piece,
reading. Then I started flipping through the stack, admiring the piece
with fringe, looked at the next sample. Wait a minute: this is a color
copy (scan?). Look back, oh rats, that's not real fringe, that's a copy
too. Margaret, what outstanding copies!
What I would do differently next time: send along extra thread samples in
case there are again so many participants that copies are necessary.
To everyone who sent in samples: thank you for sharing your interest in
cardweaving. Every sample is an inspiration. And thank you Margaret for
coordinating this exchange.
