The best way to figure out what is going on is to prepare a very small example (2 cards will do) and the corresponding software model, turn the cards back and forth, flip them from S- to Z-threading and back and analyze what is happening.

I left this open because the answer depends on how the cards have been turned. If a card has been turned backwards, the thread at the fell (closest to me) will show.
