Hi!
We discussed memory on list a few weeks ago and I’d like to refer to memory -
the computer kind again -.
I’ve just reinstalled Mac OS onto my Mac mini in preparation for the machine’s
new life as a server.
I looked at the System Report you can find on any Mac through the “About This
Mac” option and noticed that the memory speed of the Mac mini module is 1600MHZ.
The new iMac machine I have runs memory at 2400MHZ so to the obvious question,
can I replace the memory module I the Mac mini with a 2400MHZ module and - if I
do - will I get any gain in performance?
Speaking of performance I do notice a slight drop in performance when using the
Mac mini for obvious reasons - the Mac mini is after all a 5 year old machine
and the Specs aren’t anywhere near as good as the new iMac machine I’m running
- but the difference in performance is not one that makes the Mac mini a
bugbear to use, some tasks may take half a second or so for the Mac mini to
complete whereas they appear to be near instantly completed on the iMac.
Cheers!
