This should be reported to the MiKTeX bug list. The TeXLive pdfopen/pdfclose apps are different. Use SumatraPDF or gsview instead: http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/free-pdf-reader.html http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/gsview/ These PDF readers allow the file to be updated without using pdfopn/pdfclose.
