TILT fork?

Actually, from my understanding there are actually no developers for TILT. I had anticipated that by covering the project by essentially an open source license there would emerge some mechanisms for the community to contribute changes back into a core product - unfortunately there weren't any real mechanisms put in place for this to happen. I left the project 5 years ago and have seen little change since then (some minor content changes, some deletetions and a backwards interface development), but there is still an interest in the product from a wide range of audiences. I am personally still interested in seeing TILT move along with the times ... and to accomplish this i'm thinking that a fork may have to take place.

I am thinking about forking the project into something called "The Information Literacy Tutorial" and hosting it on a site called Eduforge (http://eduforge.org). This is a perfectly legit action for an open source project to take if the users feel that the original maintainers are no longer contributing in a way that benefits the  community; the license allows it as well. I would like to use this site as a way for developers to improve the programming aspects of TILT, for easier installation, administration,  and to improve the documentation as well. We might also use the Wiki provided by Eduforge to discuss and update the content. I'd like to see what people think of this idea before going ahead though. If you have any thoughts as to whether this is a good idea, or perhaps why it's not then please post.

Tricia,

I'm running tilt with PHP5. There are no compatibily issues with the
current code. Although there I have noticed that there were many flaws in
the current code. Mostly due to poor programming habits and lack of a
highly structured api and configuration. If the devolpers would actually
sit down and draw out a formal plan this could be a very easy tool to
implement anywhere.
