Short of re-coding LILT, you can set the register_globals on a per 
directory and I believe per virtual host level.  There's a bit more 
information about it here:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.core.php#ini.register-globals
I believe it can be in a <VirtualHost> container as well as in a .htaccess 
file.
