email server

I have inherited a Solaris box that is running TILT.  TILT is using 
sendmail on the box to mail out the results of quizzes.  I would like to 
use a different mail server, not sendmail running on TILT box.  Our 
development folks have taken a look but they are can not determine if I can 
use a different mail server.

So, my question is: Can we configure TILT to use a mail server that is not 
local?
