[TMIC] Neurontin & Pain

 *Hi Barbara,*
>

*I can't drop my Neurontin down either. I've been at 2400 for about two
years now. I have to say that it works well for me at that dose, and I no
longer get drowsy with it. (That was hard to adjust to in the beginning.)
If I were to drop it down (I've tried to reduce it a bit in the past.) the
really bad pain would come back. *
**
*You know, a lot of people I've spoken with haven't gotten relief from it,
but it's been great for me. Like you, it gets the *edge* off. One thing
that I learned *not* to do, was to take it at the same time as my first
daily Tegretol dose. Whenever the neuro titred my Tegretol up to 1200 mgs,
I took my first 400 mg dose of the day with my 800 mgs Neurontin, and it
layed me out---literally. I had taken my little dog outside of the
apartment building to take care of her business, and had to lay down at the
picnic tables to wait for someone to come out and help me back into my
building. Along with my other meds, my head was spinning. Almost like I
would imagine that someone who was very, very, drunk would feel. *
**
*Different things work for different people. I've been successful at
weaning off a lot of my drugs, but the Neurontin I really need. It's what
works best for me just now. *
