Bushnoh, thanks for clarification (comment #121). Based on Chris Starling's comment #95 I installed oga2, and: 1. Playback works through built-in speaker. 2. Playback works through headphones, & built-in speaker mutes when headphones jacked in. 3. Recording through internal mic does NOT work; choppy static recorded thru both Skype test call and Gnome-sound-record. Sound Device is set to HDA Intel (ALSA mixer), all tracks turned on in Preferences, volume up. Based on Starling's comment #93, I looked in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf for "model=[whatever]", and could not find the word "model" at all. Does that need to be added? Or am I looking in the wrong place? Furthermore is it OK to keep trying to thrash out Jaunty issues, or are you all moved on to Karmic now?
