University City Community Council notes

The University City Community Council met on Thursday, August 2, 2001.  
Gregorio Cojulun, president of Garden Court Community Assn., hosted the
meeting.  The group heard a short presentation from guest Mathew Grubel on
concerns about the Clark Park Renewal plan.  Glenn Moyer and Camille Henry of
the Clark Park Music & Arts Community spoke about their group's focus and its
upcoming concert on Sept. 29th.  

After numerous requests, the UCCC has received a letter from the University
City District offering a compromise on the procedure for selecting "community
representatives" for the UCD board.  UCCC members will take this new
information back to their individual associations for consideration at their
September meetings.  UCCC will host a Town Meeting on the controversial City
Council Bill 629 on Sept. 6th.  Plans are being finalized now; look for
future announcements.  The Group Homes Task Force will meet in late August.  
The Education Committee recently met with Councilwoman Blackwell and Gaeton
Zorzi, the new Southwest Area Academic Officer, covering the area from Market
St. and Cobbs Creek and all south and west of that (the Bartram & West Phila.
school clusters) to discuss concerns about our area schools.

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, October 4, 2001, hosted by
Squirrel Hill Community Assn.
