-- Are you concerned about proposed Historic
Districts?
-- Are you concerned about a nuisance property?
-- Are you concerned about the Mayor's Vacant Property
plans?
So many of these concerns -- all the subject of many recent
postings on local listserves -- are addressed by new proposals -- soon to be
taken up by City Council -- to create a "land tax" to replace a part of the
"property tax." City Comptroller Jonathan Siedel believes that many
of the "problem property" issue stems from a poor system of taxation that could
be better addressed by some use of a land tax.
COME HEAR FOR YOURSELF! At a public meeting this
Thursday at Calvary Church, this Thursday night at 7pm. The University
City Community's opinions will be important in the development of new
legislation.
This program stems from a request from Councilwoman Jannie
Blackwell for community input, and it is sponsored by the University City
Community Council. We hope that many people will come out to listen,
question, and voice opinions.
Thank you,
Roger Harman, President, Cedar Park Neighbors (on behalf of
the UCCC)
