There are three new resources available that may help you as you do advocacy on TANF.  
They are:

1.  The Hatcher Group, a public affairs firm connecting non-profits and foundations to 
policy makers and the media.  They focus exclusively on progressive policy issues and 
have done considerable work on developing messages around the various issues in TANF 
reauthorization.  See:  http://www.thehatchergroup.com

2.  The Center for Law and Social Policy and the Center on Budget and Policy 
Priorities have done a new side-by-side analysis of all the major TANF proposals now 
before Congress.  Bear in mind that the House has already passed its bill.  The Senate 
Finance Committee has approved a measure that will be the basis for Senate debate in 
July or September, but it could (and likely will) be amended by some of the other

3.  The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has done several new analyses of 
aspects of TANF.  See:  http://www.cbpp.org

Congress will recess for the summer on August 4, returning to work after Labor Day.  
Senators are likely to be in their states much of that time and should be available 
for visits in their state offices.  They will also be reading the local papers, so it 
would be a great time for letters to the editors, op-ed pieces, etc.  Please urge your 
Senators to:

- support the Finance Committee bill on TANF reauthorization;  

- resist all efforts to reduce benefits for immigrants and education and training 
options for people who are trying to educate themselves for family-sustaining jobs; and

- support increased funding for child care.
