Hey all,
I am trying to locate overnight accomodations for several individuals coming to Philly January 9th.They are members of the planning committee of WOW, Witness Our Welcome, an interfaith gathering to be held on the Penn Campus this coming August 14-17, 03 . The conference is on a very tight budget and it would really be helpful if the members could stay with supportive glbt and allied folks in the neighborhood their first night in Philly. Friday the 10th they will moving their gathering to the Days Inn on Penns Landing, so the need for hospitality in University City is only for one night. The plan at present is that they will meet at Dahlak for dinner on the 9th, and then afterward go to folks homes willing to host them. The next am they will be reconviening in Old City at First Reformed.
Witness Our Welcome 2003 Gathering Mission Statement:
We, God's people gathering at WOW2003, commit: to invite, welcome, and affirm every person of every sexual orientation and gender identity; to struggle to make a safe space, respecting people from all diverse backgrounds;
to worship, study and play, opening ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit through transformation and justice;
to add our voices to the Welcoming Church Movement, striving for justice and inclusion for ALL people within the Body of Christ.
Program Planning
The CC affirmed that the WOW2003 schedule will be similar to WOW2000-beginning with worship on Thursday evening and ending with worship on Sunday morning. Bible studies, worship and plenary sessions will occur on Friday and Saturday mornings with workshop those afternoons. The details of the schedule are still being worked out in order to incorporate suggestions from the WOW2000 evaluations.
A large number of volunteers will be needed in the coming months to work with the Coordinating Committee in planning and implementing WOW2003. The planning teams include: Arts/Performances; Keynotes/Plenaries; Mealtime Events, Workshops, Worship & Music; Youth Program; Finance/Fund Raising; Publicity/Outreach; and Local Arrangements.
If you or someone you know would be willing to volunteer a few hours each month between now and August 2003 to assist with an aspect of WOW2003 planning, please contact the CC at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks for considering hosting an out-of towner on January 9th, 2003. Please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you have the room and the hospitality bug.
God's peace,
Fred Wolfe
