Hello everyone, Although many if not all of you have received an invitation to the conference for block captain/contacts I wanted to make sure that everyone on the listserv knew about this excellent, informative program sponsored by Cedar park Neighbors. On Saturday, November 8th from 9am-noon (only a half day, folks) at Hickman Church, 50th and Baltimore there will be a conference for block captains/contacts in our area. This is a chance to meet other like-minded types dealing with the same problems you face. There is a great group of speakers coming addressing all our many areas of interest: crime and safety, greening, zoning, quality of life issues. For crime and safety we have John Fenton from the UC District; for greening, Amanda Benner who developed the innovative Block Improvement Grant program in Spruce Hill and who has just been named Executive Director of UC Green; for quality of life, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and for LandI issues, Robert Solvibile of LandI. In addittion we will showcase our home grown talent giving block leaders who have successfully dealt with a full range of nitty-gritty stuff an opportunity to share their hard earned wisdom with the rest of us. We have also developed a kit for block le! aders to give you the tools to get results on your own. Lunch will be served (catered by Abbraccio) as well as morning coffee and cakes from the new Sugar Hill Bakery soon to open on Baltimore Ave. There is no cost to you. You really want to be there. Please reply back to me and of course I'm available to answer questions... Sincerely, Angie Coghlan ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UCwestBC."
