Just a reminder: Negotiations between the two civilian unions (DC 33 and DC 47) are coming to a head, and there may be movement one way or another in the next few days. Both unions are now working without a contract.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * As long as no strike is declared, you can expect that recycling will take place as scheduled at the Firehouse Farmers Market. (e.g., this coming Saturday Aug 21) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * However, for the next few days or weeks and until an agreement is reached, everyone should pay close attention to the news: if a strike is called there will be NO recycling at the Firehouse Farmers Market while the strike is on. [Editorial side note: the major media have produced remarkably little coverage of the talks, which have been going on intermittently since the beginning of July.] Let's all hope for a good outcome from the talks.
