I installed a new server and updated from 3.0.18 to php-4.0.4

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare crc32() in /home/mydir/search/crc32.inc on line 6

After I disabled line 6 it works again.
It looks like the function is not needed in PHP4

Does anybody know??
