[UC] Cluster Flies

Is anyone else experiencing the joy of having these little buggers in  
their living space?

They look like ordinary house flies, but they're not. At first I  
wondered how in the world I would see flies in January..and if there  
was a decaying squirrel carcass or something that was attracting  
them.  (No) So I googled, and came up with this:

Talked to my neighbor last night--theirs are even worse.

 Help! My cats are going crazy! But aparently, there's not much you  
can do.
