Hello All, I wanted to let you all know that there is an especially moving tribute to young victims of the Holocaust being presented this week, and it was wonderfully described in today's Inquirer. It's an opera called "Brundibar". Below is the link to the article.
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/magazine/82230507.html There you will also find the schedule of performances at the International House this coming week. My sons David and Ian have had the priviledge of participating, working with Karen Saillant, whose amazing talent as director of the International Opera Theater has been a life-changing force for them and for me. This re-enactment of an opera that was produced 55 times by children in the concentration camp of Theresenstadt brings home poignantly the bittersweet nature of experiences that made up life for them all. Here is another link showing interviews with some of the survivors who were part of the original cast, telling how every time they performed the opera they were making a statement about overcoming Hitler, because the villain looked like him: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=2512408n&tag=related;photovideo I hope that you will come and see the show, not only because David and Ian are in it, but also because it will be an unforgettable experience, both educational and emotional. Thanks, Patty Bulack
