Here is an inspiring editorial for true social justice and environmental progressives. This author is making important points and now the vast majority of people finally understand that they have been screwed for a long time. I also hope people will start listening to the individuals, who have been clear-headed and honest with them all along.
http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/26623 When Nutter announced his first budget cuts, I tried to join a beginning people's movement. I was shocked to see how the Coalition To Save the Libraries was taken over. And then, the Coalition to save essential services by the same group. A band of so called "progressive activists" took over and destroyed the people's movement before it could get started. These professional activists were as dishonest, with a secret agenda, as SHCA/FOCP "progressives." The peace movement was also subverted after activist groups, who spoke the words of peace, suddenly said, "the movement won; Obama won." Of course, the real peace movement understood that the work was more significant than ever. Obama said he was going to fight the good war in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, it's a promise he kept. Whether peace movement activists voted for Obama instead of Nader or Mckinney, hope for the possibility of change was not a delusion or reason to quit. Then there was healthcare. Again there was an entire "progressive movement" who betrayed healthcare reform as soon as the terrible house bill was passed. They immediately said: "The democrats won. Support the democrats now!" Citizens, these infiltrations under the "progressive banner" which seek to betray a people's movement are a much greater problem than the tea bag movement! The congress is playing out this charade that everyone has been taught to call, partisan bickering. These so called progressive friends want to talk about togetherness; but then they aid corporate media and the two corporate parties to mislead the people and betray a people's movement. Also, remember the panel that the Haskins posted for tomorrow night: www.phillyagainstwar.org The PAW Forum will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, 1906 South Rittenhouse Square. The panel of speakers will be: Glen Ford (Black Agenda Report), Phyllis Bennis, (Institute for Policy Studies) Kathy Black (U.S. Labor Against the War) Jimmy Tobias (University of Pennsylvania) ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
