Thanks a bunch! The fact that it built for you convinced me it was just something I was doing wrong. I figured out that I had to move everything in the -dependencies tar into the extracted -sources tar. Which seems obvious. I'll claim I was thrown off as I hadn't seen this kind of packaging before.
