Excellent UI article-Is this OT?

I hope this is not OT.  I was looking at the mozilla documentation 
catalog, and came across this excellent article on UI design.

The major point is, "Drop the Preferences!" which I think has some 
importance to mozilla, and through it, Beonex.
        Comments, thoughts, anyone?  Regarding OT-ness of this, 
should it be somewhere else, or styled differently?
