Apple's biggest problem is that despite using Open Source components and despite giving back to the community, Apple still is a cathedral in every way (development model, NDAs, etc). Personally I'd rather shop in the bazaar. I appreciate Apple's engineering prowess, though. I bought a powerbook primarily because I'm tired of crappy x86 laptops. I like OS X and have no pressing reason to run Linux on it, but I don't prefer it to linux.
