How to catch Velocity rendering errors

I'm extending VelocityViewServlet and using handleRequest to return a
Template.
Is there anyway in which I can catch and handle data/parse errors
generated from the Template during the rendering phase?

At the moment, if I've got a velocity template error, the error
information is sent to the browser - I'd like to capture this and
perhaps manage it's display a little better.
