    if you would consider an "out of the box" observation ...
   could it simply be that the music, when performed in an academic, lute=
   -ish mind set, will sound different than what it would be if it were
   perfor= med in a tavern; with a greater emphasis placed on rhythm.
   the "str= ing brother" video clips i posted earlier and these, from
   mexico:
   ht= tp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DoxVhj-kRLmo
   http://www.youtube.com/wa= tch?v=3D2-VJegWlN1o
   ... might have some pertinence. some will = hear only "mexican" folk
   music in these recordings but how much - i ask, mo= st humbly - of the
   olde-worlde, "spanish style" (what sanz was most likely = to hear of an
   evening) is there which remains as well?

What exactly did Sanz have in mind when he said certain pieces we=
re composed
'in the Spanish style' (if that is an accurate translation)?=
Fuga 1, por primer tono al aire Espanol
Pavanas por la D con=
 partidas al aire Espanol
