i took great interest in the comments made regarding people who might be too
critical of howard McNears stroke and the effect it had on his performnce.
As i have headed that short list i like to remind our dear readers that
Howard's stroke can never be ignored. It happened, it effected him , it
changed his personality in private and his character on film . but what i
like to add everytime in my case whn i discussed Howard McNears stroke his
walk or his slurred speech, i made it a point to tell the readers his stroke
may have been oddly enough a blessing. Any impersonator of Floyd Lawson is
doing the Post stroke Floyd and all fans seem to remember his
charactorization best after the post stroke Floyd. To me Howard mcNear was
at my best after the 1962 stroke, the strokr sharpened his mind atered his
facial expression changed his seech to a more suitable believable lovable
character. The stroke will never go away but the character of Floyd Lawson
aka Howard McNear will endure fa longer now because of fate stepping in. its
sad it took a stroke but that stroke and that speech pattern only broadened
his character and embellished his talents. he is remembered only as the post
Floyd in many ways when we mimick him. Oddly the stroke did wonders for
this gifted actor. god rest his soul. thanks my friends. Tom Kessel col.Tims
Protege Reject aka Evan Thorpe
