Hello everybody > > * any reason to use http://members.netnormal.com/name or > http://netnormal.com/users/name (e.g. any search engine > can search in this URLs like HotBot does in 3level > domains -I think the problem is the /name part- ?)? If it makes no difference to you, it should make no difference to search engines. They will all get the correct page from the server. > > * can/should we resubmit the URLs to the search engines > (without being considered spamming, etc)? > Directories If you have been listed by one of the directories (eg: Yahoo, Looksmart, Open Directory), look for a link to update, rather than resubmit. If you can't do that, try to contact an editor first. Most directories consider multiple URLs for the same page to be spamming, so it is important to explain yourself. Search engines Each search engine works in a different way. Many of them resolve your URL to an IP number -- which will, of course, be exactly the same as before. It could be misunderstood as a crude spamming technique -- if so, your pages will still be indexed, but your ranking might suffer. None of this will affect you unless you have a high ranking now -- you can't lose what you haven't got! Check the major search engines -- are you in top thirty for your most important keywords? If the answer is 'no', concentrate on developing stronger content for your pages. If the answer is 'yes', concentrate on getting into the top ten. Don't worry about this issue. ..............................................................
