I did the Nally Chilly cantenna. (502.11b) I did the 1st one and the VSWR was terrible. Between 4:1 and 5:1. The freq was off by at least 100 MHz. So I went through about 4 cans and twenty holes(with verying stub lengths) with only marginal gains in VSWR. I finally went back to the first one and played with the stub length inside the can. That only made marginal improvements as well. Then I started to tilt the stub forward and backward. I now have a near perfect match but the tilt forward is better than 30°. Someday when I am doing some antenna patterns I'll run the cantenna as well and post the results. Then I'll try a 802.11a cantenna. It's easier when you have access to a network analyzer and a 3-meter semi-anechoic. Now if my boss would just ease up on the load.
